With more and more research being conducted, we’re learning how beneficial CBD can be. CBD (Cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring compound found in cannabis plants. Recently, it has been gaining popularity among women due to its potential health properties. In fact, according to recent studies, more than 40% of adults have tried CBD at least once in their lives, wherein the majority are female users.
Women experience unique physical and mental health conditions throughout their lifetime that can be difficult to manage with traditional treatments alone. And those who have consumed CBD products claimed that it helps with a variety of health conditions. However, there is still little research to support these claims. Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved any CBD products other than one prescription drug for the treatment of two rare, severe forms of epilepsy. High cortisol lowers estrogen levels which can worsen female hormone imbalance symptoms such as night sweats, sleep problems, and mood swings. A small-scale study investigated the effects of cannabidiol (CBD) on plasma prolactin, growth hormone, and cortisol levels. A decrease in cortisol levels was significantly observed after the volunteers received doses of CBD. Hence, the result of the study suggests that CBD interferes with cortisol secretion.
A 2019 study suggest that CBD may hold benefit for anxiety-related disorders. It involves the clinical application of CBD for anxiety and sleep complaints in 103 adult patients. As a result of the study, anxiety scores decreased within the first month in 57 patients (79.2%). It remained decreased during the study duration. Additional controlled clinical studies are needed in this area but the results are promising.
Many women suffer from digestive problems such as IBS. Wherein some of them claimed to have found relief from using CBD products. But what does the research say about it? A 2013 review highlights the importance of CBD as a promising drug for the therapy of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). It states that there is evidence that this compound may interact at extra-cannabinoid system receptor sites. Hence, making it a potential candidate for the development of a new class of anti-IBD drugs.
We all know that women have to endure a lot of physical pain throughout their lives. The list can go on and on, from menstrual cramps and headaches to joint pains. It’s no wonder that many of us are looking for ways to ease the discomfort we experience. According to a 2019 review of research on CBD as a therapy for PMS, CBD may be useful for treating both acute and chronic pain. It also concludes that CBD and cannabis may be effective in treating symptoms that are comparable to those of PMS.
Menopause can be a difficult time for women. It is the period of life when your body goes through changes. You may experience physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms. A 2010 study in mice found that CBD may lessen the signs and symptoms of depression by working in the brain similarly to antidepressant drugs. Another 2015 animal study also discovered that topical CBD decreased pain-related behaviors and inflammation.
As you know, the beauty industry has been buzzing with news of the amazing benefits that CBD can provide for skin health and wellness. And we couldn’t agree more – this powerful ingredient is quickly becoming a go-to option for many women looking for natural solutions to their skin issues. But are there studies to support these claims? A 2014 study has indicated that CBD may reduce inflammation and regulate oil production, which may help to avoid acne. It also concluded that topical CBD might be used to treat skin rashes, eczema, and psoriasis. Another 2022 study demonstrates the clinical potential of CBD in the treatment of acne. Lastly, according to a 2020 review, CBD’s anti-inflammatory qualities may aid in the treatment of skin disorders including psoriasis. However, because more study is required, the authors advise care when taking CBD for this condition.
All in all, it appears that there is a direct link between CBD and women’s health. No wonder why a lot of us are drawn to different CBD products. But with further studies and research, more information will come out about how beneficial CBD really can be!
