What is CBG?

These receptors are part of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which is essential for our bodies to maintain homeostasis or balance. The receptor CB2 is mostly found in immune cells, spleen, and some non-neuronal brain cells.
Now, why is CBG known to be the mother of all cannabinoids? This is because Cannabigerol is the first chemical that the plant produces, so it’s considered as the “stem cell” of the hemp. As the plant grows, Cannabigerol matures deriving in other cannabinoids like THC, CBD, CBN, among others. The remaining amount of CBG in a matured plant is significantly lower than CBD, that’s one of the reasons why the extraction and final product is more expensive.
What are the potential benefits of CBG?
Although the studies on CBG are limited, it is known that it has unique properties that are catching the attention of scientists. A study with mice from 2015 discovered that CBG has the potential to be a treatment for neurodegenerative conditions, such as Huntington’s disease.
